POSITION SUMMARY: Under minimal supervision the Technical Designer provides CAD drafting, plotting and archiving support to the facilities engineering group. Employees in this job class produce drawings of architecture, cubical layout, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire safety designs. This job class requires advance knowledge of interior design, engineering and drafting, and the ability to operate Personal Computers, AutoCAD and Plotters to produce a variety of CAD drawings. TYPICAL DUTIES:1. *Formats, produces, and categorizes as built and field-verify site engineering project drawings.2. *Using specialized software, develop proposals estimates and request for change orders by analyzing drawings, scope of work descriptions, blueprints, and other documentation3. *Draft construction drawings and utility plans.4. *Assists electrical and mechanical engineers with project proposals and designs.5. *Manage construction projects and oversee progress and performance of staff and contractors while adhering to timelines and contract specifications.6. *Prepare various management reports as necessary.7. *Provides updated CAD drawings to engineers and maintenance technicians.8. *Standardizes CAD drawings to comply with customer CAD standards.9. *Maintain Permits and Inspections for Campus and Facility MLS sites10. *Make onsite job inspections to determine progress of work or any unusual conditions, compliance issues and complications.11. *Using specialized software EAM, develop proposals estimates and change orders by analyzing drawings, scope of work descriptions, blueprints and other documentation and assigns work orders and preventive maintenance tasks into EAM.12. *Processes purchase requisitions for parts, components, goods, services, equipment, and supplies insupport of customer requirements and follows established procedures and policies to contact vendors, obtain quotes, choose suppliers, place requisitions, and expedite or escalate orders when needed.13. *Supports managers with large-size document plotting.14. *Maintains group plotter, loads paper and changes inks.15. *Respond to customer inquiries.16. *Manages and coordinates interior furniture design and reconfigures with contractors.17. *Manages and coordinates relocations throughout facilities.18. *Work with and manage vendors and prospective contractors for labor and material costs.19. *Maintains all documentation for engineering department, ISO procedures, BOM creations, ECN, variance reports, project binders and maintaining resource library/data base.20. *Maintain Energy Star and Hazmat database21. *Attend meetings, conferences and training classes as necessary.22. *Research and recommend new products and gather data on projects to be entered in database.23. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.* Denotes Essential Job FunctionMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:---Three or more years of experience in building-engineering, interior design, and CAD drafting;---Computer literacy and skills to operate specialized departmental equipment and software, including Personal---Computer, AutoCAD and Plotter to produce a variety of CAD drawings;---Formal training in engineering-drafting and in using PC and AutoCAD software;---Ability to read and understand construction, electrical, and equipment drawings, blueprints, and schematics;---Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from team, customers, and others;---Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English;---Human relations skills to maintain effective working relationships with the team;---Effective customer service skills;---Flexibility to respond to changing work priorities and handle numerous projects at the same time;---Intermediate computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;---Basic mathematical ability including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division;---Demonstrated customer service, problem-solving, and common-sense skills.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:AssociatesBachelors in Business Administration or related fieldA comparable combination of formal education and work experience will be considered.CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:Valid Driver's LicensePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:---Viewing computer screen/monitor---Utilizing keyboard---Answering phone/making calls---Maneuvering to and around equipment---Bending, kneeling, stooping and reaching---Climbing stepstools or ladders---Lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 25 pounds---Transporting to various locations within customer site---Monitoring computer systemsWORK ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed in a normal office environment with limited privacy and some exposure to background noise.
