The Emergency Department Technician is a member of the patient
care team who performs a variety of tasks and activities to meet
patient and department needs consistent with the scope of practice
for an unlicensed practitioner. The Emergency Department Technician
must manage multiple demands on his/her time to support the
activity of the nursing staff, facilitate the timely flow of
patients through the department, and to ensure that the department
is stocked and ready to receive and treat patients at all
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification or Military
Medical Experience required.
Previous experience in a health care setting performing ED
direct patient care - required.
Military medical or emergency department experience
Principles of body mechanics required.
Ability to write legibly and spell correctly required.
Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy
BLS-HCP recognition required.
Good interpersonal and communications skills required.
Willingness and ability to learn tasks through on the job
