Using new technologies and organizing techniques that allow people-powered campaigns to operate at unprecedented scale, we can rise to the challenges we face. The Distributed Organizing Specialist will help us lift off and develop our local organizing infrastructure that will allow volunteers to organize in their own communities, learn core skills, and build relationships that keep them involved in this work for the long haul. This role will play a key role in our shift from a mobilization team to a distributed organizing team. This role is for somebody who is passionate about strengthening and diversifying the environmental movement, and sees people power built through distributed organizing and on-the-ground action as the way to win big change. This role will: Recruit, train and support local volunteer leaders and teams to organize on-the-ground-action to drive Greenpeace campaigns and further our mission. Develop and manage high-level volunteer trainers and coaches who onboard and mentor local organizing leaders and teams. Identify opportunities to recruit for and grow Greenpeace's local organizing program. Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to build out larger supporter journeys and campaigns. Develop supporter recruitment and retention plans and build out well-crafted, effective content including email copy, peer to peer scripts, toolkits, and training materials. Design and lead high impact volunteer calls and trainings to onboard new volunteers and grow the depth of engagement and leadership of existing volunteers. Be flexible and responsive in projects pivot and support programs as needed in order to meet the stated goals. Coach and train other Greenpeace staff on engagement tools and best practices. Work with the Supporter Engagement Manager to create long term strategies to build volunteer power and help win Greenpeace campaigns. Foster a culture of positivity, emotional intelligence and support amongst volunteers at all times. Flexible working hours including evenings required. Minimum requirements include, but not limited to: 3-5+ years of organizing experience 2-3+ years of specific experience in distributed organizing or 1-2 election cycles. A demonstrated ability to manage projects that bring in thousands of volunteers, and plug them into long-term organizing structures. Highly organized with strong bias towards motivating and managing remote volunteers and multiple complex volunteer engagement systems Experience project managing staff in executing distributed organizing work. Experience with digital and data tools Slack, Google Drive, Zoom Webinars, EveryAction or other CRMs, and Control shift or other distributed action tools. Exceptional interpersonal and leadership communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to building a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive movement. Comfort with and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced campaigning environment, including juggling multiple priorities. Commitment to people-centered campaigning/organizing. Willingness to experiment, take risks and learn from successes and failures. Creative and strategic thinker and problem solver.
