Marin Yacht Club seeks a CHEF, join our team and THRIVEMarin Yacht Club is a 28-acre oasis in San Rafael, CA. surrounded by water on three sides. The facilities are extensive and include a pool, tennis courts, bocce court, rose garden, recreation center, 150 seat restaurant/banquet room, upstairs bar and deck, all adjacent to a private Marina. MYC has been a part of the community for 93 years. Founded in 1929 the founders watched the transformation of Beale Island by the Army Corp of Engineers. They then purchased the island and created what is now the Marin Yacht Club.Marin Yacht Club currently has 200 Members. The bar and galley is open Thursday through Sunday and occasionally for private parties. MYC is seeking a passionate, skilled chef to create contemporary, elevated meals, attractively plated for our Members and Guests. You will contribute to planning a seasonal menu, with a focus on flavorful, healthy, cost-effective selections made from fresh, local, organic or sustainable ingredients. Chef will also prepare and execute banquet menus for groups of 20-150 people.In addition to being an excellent chef, you must also excel at selecting vendors, managing food inventory, maintain sanitation to the highest level.We are looking for the best fit and a creative solution in filling this role.Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all food is of excellent quality and served in a timely manner.
  • Planning the menu, keeping in mind budget, and availability of seasonal ingredients.
  • Manage inventory to minimize waste
  • Overseeing kitchen operations.
  • Coordinating kitchen staff, and assisting them as required.
  • Training staff to prepare and cook all the menu items.
  • Taking stock of ingredients and equipment and placing orders to replenish stock.
  • Enforcing safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
  • Creating new recipes to keep the menu fresh.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends.
  • Receiving feedback and making improvements where necessary.
  • Managing all the kitchen staff, including hiring, setting hours, and conducting reviewsRequirements:
    • Culinary school education.
    • Past experience as a working chef
    • Sanitation and quality control.
    • Passion for creativity.
    • Expert multitasking ability.
    • Great leadership and interpersonal skills.
    • Manage inventory
    • Exemplary work ethic in a high-pressure environment.
    • Chef reports to the General Manager/Commodore and House Committee Chairperson.Compensation: Competitive
