Position Overview:

Sutter Care at Home is the home health care and hospice affiliate
of Sutter Health, one of the nation's largest not-for-profit health

The clinical art therapist provides art therapy services to hospice
patients and family members, and children and families
participating in the Children's Bereavement Art Group program. The
art therapist assesses, plans and implements art therapy
interventions in both individual and group formats. The art
therapist provides consultation to other team members with specific
representation of the children within the families served.
Qualifications:
Education
Master's degree in art therapy or master's degree in counseling or
social work with concentration in art therapy, or equivalent
combination of experience and education. Licensure as a marriage,
family and child counselor or licensed clinical social worker is
preferred.
Experience
Preferred experience in chronic or terminal healthcare and
experience in bereavement care work with children, adolescents and
families.
Knowledge
Strong clinical assessment skills. Knowledge of art therapy theory
and practice. Knowledge and skills in utilizing the visual arts as
therapeutic modalities with children, adolescents, and adults.
Knowledge and skills necessary to provide therapeutic interventions
to the age-specific needs of children and adolescents. Knowledge of
grief/loss theory and its interaction with individual and family
development. Ability to gather and assess data reflective of the
child's and family's developmental stage. Knowledge of child abuse
report requirements and other significant regulations affecting
clinical art therapy practice.
Skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in
writing. Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability
to function in the context of team care. Must demonstrate effective
communication skills with families.
