Major Duties
Classification: Exempt / Non-BargainingPosition may be located
remote. #LI-RemoteThe Tier II Network Engineer is responsible for
monitoring work queues for new, rejected, and supplemented orders.
They are responsible for ensuring that service orders have the
correct routing strategy based on engineering guidelines
established by the Engineering and Network Architecture
departments. This is accomplished through the use of the ordering
support system, on-line tools, and a general knowledge of routers.
Other responsibilities include ensuring accuracy of the service
order and ensuring data base integrity. The Tier II Network
Engineer also creates practices that aid in the successful
completion of projects within a product or functional area. They
provide a second level of technical and analytical support to one
or more departments or work units. They are responsible for
providing training and guidance to Tier I Network Engineers. They
make recommendations that aid in the successful completion of
projects within a product or functional area. They may assist with
the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards and be
responsible for external customer networks.
Responsibilities
Monitor work queue and design service
order requests for HSI, DIA, Switched Ethernet(ELINE/ELAN), and
MPLS for both Commercial and Carrier customers utilizing CCI
support systems. Provision and Activate services in the various
routers. Assign IP's for Internet and Voice circuits. Configure
BGP. Provide Tier II technical support for the customers and peer
groups on test and turn up. Assist customers with network issues
during test and turn up process. Available to assist in off-hour
turn ups and feature change requests. Scrub routers, IPAM, systems.
Interface with various departments to assist in a timely customer
turn-up. In addition to the Tier I duties and responsibilities the
Tier II is responsible for the following: Design and configure
Multiple Classes of Service. Create profile templates and set up
policies in routers. Work with Operations and Architecture team to
troubleshoot CES data circuits and routers. Test new products and
services in the test environment. Identify system gaps and make
recommendations for improvements. Cross Train on all products and
stay up to date on product/process updates. Create supporting
documentation by product and maintain as updates are rolled out.

team members, or provide guidance and training to others, as well

established procedures and practices. Work is varied and requires
frequent interpretation. Solves a wide range of basic to moderate
problems. Contributes in departmental activities and programs by
accomplishing related tasks as needed. Work closely with the
development and Architecture Teams to aid in design and development
of new telecom-related technologies including systems integration,
testing, evaluation, requirement identification, and technical
recommendations. Create practices that aid in the successful
completion of projects within a product or functional area. Provide
Tier III technical and analytical support to peer group as well as
one or more departments or work units. Responsible for providing
training and guidance to Tier I and Tier II Network Engineers. Make
recommendations that aid in the successful completion of projects
within a product or functional area. They may assist with the
development of new concepts, techniques, and standards. Strong
troubleshooting and analytical skills. Act as a team lead with the
department. Maintain tools for the team.
Qualifications
Requires a range of skills within a
professional discipline including familiarity with principles,
theories, concepts, and technologies, as well as applied knowledge
of established procedures, policies, and practices. Must be
comfortable navigating through router configurations on Cisco and
Juniper platforms. Knowledgeable in DSL, Ethernet, VLANs, MPLS, IP
addressing, and subnetting in IPV4 and IPv6. Knowledge of emulation
software, routing protocols, and advanced router troubleshooting.
Knowledge of M6 and Netcracker is helpful but not required.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in electrical
engineering, electronics, or related field or the equivalent in
experience. 5-7 years telephony experience. Typically requires CCNA
or equivalent experience. Must have MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and
Outlook experience. Knowledge of Netcracker is helpful but not
required.

Salary
Pay range (commensurate with skills and experience): $65,982 -
$100,011 annually
